Border Partners: Promoting Health & Improving Recreational Opportunities

Border Partners promotes wellness and personal health. This includes nutrition, exercise, quality of life for border residents of all ages.

Border Partners wants to promote exercise as a way to maintain good health and avoid health problems such as diabetes and obesity. This includes augmenting programs already in place–such as public parks–and initiating programs to boost the personal health of the community’s residents.

Enhancing Community Resources

Border residents have come together to improve Palomas parks, sparked by the leadership of Border Partners. Several of the Palomas neighborhood parks now boast new playground and sporting equipment, the result of donations that have been revitalized by neighborhood work groups.

Improving nutrition

One of Border Partner’s long term goals is to improve nutrition and the general health of the people in Palomas. More income to buy food is only part of the issue. The fresh food available now in Palomas is limited in variety, often of poor quality and expensive. Growing home gardens is a logical next step.
